Camper Communication

Away Dance Camp communication will take place through the BAND app. Registered campers should use the link below to add themselves to the private ADC BAND group.

This group is for campers only and will be used to share important updates, schedules, reminders, packing details, and camp-related announcements leading up to and during camp.

Please note: parents should not join this BAND group.

What to Pack + Dancer Presentation

Please pack for 2 nights / 3 days.

Dancers should bring their best training-friendly looks for the weekend. Camp attire is dancer’s choice, but dancers should still look clean, polished, and camera-ready each day. Think stylish, fitted, comfortable, and easy to move in.

Dancers are encouraged to pack pieces they can swap, layer, or change throughout the day, such as tops, tanks, tees, shorts, leggings, joggers, cargos, jackets, button-ups, or other dance-friendly pieces.

Sunday Recording Note

Sunday is still dancer’s choice, but some studio sessions may be recorded. Dancers who are selected to perform the final camp piece will need to change into all black for that portion.

The all-black look should still give — clean, cute, polished, and camera-ready. It does not have to be plain or basic. Dancers can bring stylish all-black pieces that show personality while still being appropriate for movement.

All black does not need to be worn all day, but it should be packed and ready.

Grooming + Training Expectations

Dancers should arrive well-groomed and bring what they need to stay fresh throughout camp, including toiletries, deodorant, hair products, edge control, brushes/combs, hair ties, and bobby pins.

During training, we should not see:

  • Bonnets

  • Scarves

  • Jewelry

  • Apple Watches

  • Smart watches

Hair should be secure and styled in a way that allows dancers to train without constantly fixing it.

Phone Check-In

To help everyone stay focused and present, dancers will check in their phones at the start of training sessions.

Phones will be returned during designated breaks throughout camp.

This is a camp tradition we are bringing back to help dancers stay locked in, build community, socialize more, and fully experience the weekend without distractions. The goal is not to disconnect from the world completely — it is to make sure we are fully present in the room, with each other, and in the work.
