CLE & CHI Photoshoot Recap

What better way to start the season than with a company photoshoot? Photographs were captured by in-house photographer Davon Branch and led by Asa Lang, Tatiana Serrato, & Ariyonne Highsmith. Massive shoutout to all the makeup artists and volunteers that helped ensure our shoot ran smoothly. We’re so excited to be able to offer professional experiences like these to our company members.

Spring 23 Open Enrollment

Watch out because we are expanding; this season’s open enrollment was a success for all divisions, with over 100 enrollment submissions. Our new members are learning, thriving, and adjusting to the MVMT family just fine.

Check out testimony from one of our newest members:

“So first things first, I want to say that I love that a company like Diamond MVMT has an open enrollment — I remember questioning whether  I would “make the cut” as I had been out of practice for so long. But knowing that the company is willing to welcome and pour into you as long as you’re willing to do the work is a breath of fresh air that I feel isn’t observed much in the industry.

I really appreciated how open enrollment focused on our exploration of movement and emotion, and the exercises encouraged us not to worry about preciseness but expression and connection. The room felt warm and full, making me excited and comfortable to push forward with officially joining the Diamond MVMT” 💛 - Shannon M.

The Merge

In 2019, a partnership emerged between two Midwest organizations: The Diamond Dancers, LLC, and Buck Out Cleveland. These two organizations worked together to expand the brand of The Diamond Dancers throughout the cities of Cleveland and Chicago.

Four years later, after cultivating a relationship that contributes to the amazing structure we see today, the two separate dance companies officially merged into one movement: The Diamond MVMT. Under the creative direction of Founder Jasper C. Reed, the organization is now co-overseen by its Executive Director LaChanee Davis.

Throughout this process, we've seen The Diamond MVMT change for the better day-by-day through the implementation of numerous processes, a streamlined system for feedback and communication, consistent branding, and more.

Here's to year five and all of the amazing things to come under this incredible merge.

merchandise

As we reflect on the history of our dance company, it was realized the very last time merchandise was available occurred in 2019. As we rebranded, we felt this season to be the perfect time to reintroduce our company! 2023 merchandise for The Diamond MVMT is now available to purchase online via Dance Studio Pro for Chicago and Cleveland divisions!

The Behind the MVMT Winter Showcase

At the top of the year, The Diamond MVMT hit the ground running with Chicago’s Behind the MVMT showcase. Creative Director Jasper C. Reed led the showcase and guided guests on an intimate journey through the company’s dance artistry. With ratings from critics stating, “This is the best show to date” & “I honestly felt each performance and performer. MVMT has outdone themselves with this event.“ And we can’t talk about the showcase without naming the division that stole the show. OPD’s show-stopping performance was the show’s highlight. Led by Candace Burnett and Oriana Walton, the set featured high-energy, upbeat choreography paired with advanced-level solo performances. We are so proud of Our Precious Diamonds.

D3 Takes ATL

Select veteran members of The Diamond Dancers Dance Team (D3) attended the HBCU Culture’s Battle of the Bands over MLK weekend. It’s safe to say they had a great time! A huge s/o goes out to the HBCU Culture Battle Legacy Foundation for such an awesome event, allowing our members to experience colligate dance teams and band programs in-person! Watch this re-cap video of the experience.
